Banca y Negocios.- El mercado de créditos interbancarios a un día, u «Overnight», marcó una tendencia a la desaceleración en septiembre, con el menor volumen de transacciones desde febrero, para ubicarse en 890.785 millones de bolívares en préstamos hasta el viernes 26 y un promedio diario de 46.883,42 millones, lo que ocasionó que la tasa máxima bajara de una media de 145% en agosto a 137,6% en septiembre.
Aunque falta la jornada de este lunes 30 de septiembre, el monto intermediado en el «Overnight» en septiembre sería inferior al billón de bolívares por primera vez desde febrero pasado y la tasa máxima sería la menor desde mayo. La tasa promedio hasta el 26 de septiembre fue de 120,71%, la más baja desde junio.
El economista César Aristimuño, atribuyó este comportamiento a una reducción del otorgamiento de créditos, por parte de la banca, en previsión de la aplicación de un nuevo régimen de anclaje de las tasas de la cartera comercial a la variación del tipo de cambio oficial.
Además, la banca tiene dificultades para cubrir el encaje legal, cuyos montos fueron fijados en 56% para el ordinario y 100% para el marginal y los ingresos por cartera de crédito representan un porcentaje cada vez menor de los ingresos totales del sistema, así como cubren un monto cada vez menor de los gastos, por lo que los incentivos a la actividad crediticia son realmente mínimos, ante una economía en acelerada contracción.
Las reservas excedentarias de la banca se ubicaron en 32.349,05 millones de bolívares, al 26 de septiembre, una disminución de 7,92% en comparación con agosto. Sin embargo, es el segundo mes de recuperación consecutivo desde el mínimo de 26.503,23 millones de bolívares en julio pasado.

Al cierre de agosto, la compra de estos mismos bienes demandó 12,6 salarios mínimos.
El costo de la cesta medido en divisas estadounidenses fue de 33,10 dólares a tasa oficial y 32,77 al precio del mercado no oficial, mientras que el salario mínimo integral mensual es equivalente a 3,09 dólares mensuales al valor promedio de las mesas bancarias.
En concreto, un salario mínimo integral en dólares solo permite cubrir 9,33% de esta cesta.
El monitoreo semanal de Banca y Negocios en comercios diversos del centro de Caracas apreció que los niveles de desabastecimiento de alimentos son mayores en los negocios formales -abastos y supermercados- que en los mercados y ferias a cielo abierto, salvo en los productos cárnicos.
La caída del consumo, además, tiende a estrechar los diferenciales de precios entre los diferentes tipos de comercio. En promedio, la diferencia de costos de los productos alimenticios entre los automercados y las ferias a cielo abierto se ubicó en 15,6% a favor de los últimos.
